If you’re anything like me, you know how crucial it is to have reliable gear when you’re out in the field. As an avid hunter, I’ve tried my fair share of hunting blinds, but the Kalkal hunting blind has truly impressed me with its convenience, durability, and thoughtful design. Here’s my firsthand experience using this blind during a recent hunting trip.
Why Hunters Need a Blind?
Before jumping to the specifics of the Kalkal hunting blind, it’s essential to understand why we hunters need a blind in the first place. Hunting blinds are crucial for several reasons:
- Concealment: A good hunting blind helps us stay hidden from those vigilant Animals like deer and turkeys have excellent vision and can easily spot movement. A blind provides a cover that allows us to remain undetected, thus increasing the success rate.
- Protection from Weather: Hunting often involves long hours in the field so we may be exposed to various weather conditions. A blind offers protection from rain, wind, and sun, making the experience more comfortable and allowing us to stay focused.
- Noise Reduction: Blinds help to muffle the sounds of human movement and equipment. Animals won’t be spooked easily. This is especially important when drawing a bow or adjusting a firearm.
- Scent Control: Some blinds are designed to help contain human scent, which can alert game animals to a hunter’s presence. While not all blinds offer this feature, they still provide a barrier that can help reduce scent dispersion.

How Does Kalkal Hunting Blind Hold Up?
Now let’s first see the features of the Kalkal blind and what caught my attention about it:
Easy Setup
One of my favorite features is how easy it is to set up. The pop-up design means I can have it ready in just minutes, which is fantastic when you’re eager to start hunting. The top drawstring is bright orange, making it easy to find even in low light. Plus, the blind comes with windproof ropes and stakes to secure it, so I don’t have to worry about it blowing away in the wind.
The quick setup is particularly beneficial when you need to relocate your blind due to changing wind directions or game patterns. You need to be sure that you always stay downwind.
The last thing you want is to struggle with a complicated setup when you’re racing against time to position yourself correctly.
Spacious and Comfortable
Another amazing thing is its spacious interior. It comfortably fits 2 to 3 hunters, which is perfect for group hunts. The peak height of 75 inches means I can stand comfortably without feeling cramped. And the 73 x 73 inches hub-to-hub measurements provide ample space to move around and take the shots.
The full open curtain-style door is 30.3 inches wide and 64.2 inches high. My buddy and I had plenty of room to set up our chairs and gear without bumping into each other.
This extra space is particularly beneficial when you need to adjust your position quietly or when sharing the blind with a hunting partner or a young hunter.
Superior Concealment
The 300-degree one-way see-through mesh is a game-changer. It provides a clear view from all five side windows and the door window, allowing us to keep an eye on the surroundings without being seen.
This ground blind is designed with a camouflage exterior. With the attached loops on it, I can add some local tree branches and leaves to ”decorate” my blind, and also to cover our ecdemic scent. This extra layer of concealment made a noticeable difference, as we observed several deer passing by without showing any signs of alarm.
The feature to customize the blind’s exterior to match the environment is a significant advantage. It increased our chances of a successful hunt, as I could prepare for the perfect shot without being detected.
Durable and Weather-Resistant
You can hunt whenever you want without worrying about the weather. The blind is built to withstand the elements. Its material is waterproof and windproof, ensuring it holds up well in various weather conditions.
While out in the field, the waterproof fabric performed exceptionally well, keeping us and our equipment dry. The UV resistance also means that the blind won’t degrade quickly under the sun, extending its lifespan and maintaining its effectiveness over multiple hunting seasons. It is truly a good investment with the money.
The Pros and Cons of Kalkal Blind
I have talked about the blind in detail. It is a decent product with an affordable price – less than 100 bucks. Cheaper than others in the market as you can buy it at a discount.
But nothing is perfect. This blind does have its drawbacks. For me, the first one is the window. The Kalkal’s window is a bit taller. To get in the right shooting, I will need to stand up a little bit while sitting on a normal chair.
But I don’t think it is a problem as long as you have the right chair. So make sure you bring a taller chair or a chair with adjustable height.
Another thing is the bag it comes with. The blind is easy to fold down but kinda hard to put back in the storage bag, just not as easy as you pull it out. The bag is a tight fit and it would be better if it comes with a loose bag.

I’ve used a few different hunting blinds over the years, and the Kalkal stands out for its combination of space and stealth. While some blinds are lighter and easier to carry, they often compromise on size or durability. The Kalkal covers all bases at a reasonable price, making it a solid choice for serious hunters.
Conclusion
Overall, the Kalkal hunting blind has met my expectations. It’s spacious, comfortable, and designed with the hunter’s needs in mind. The superior concealment, durability, and easy setup make it an essential piece of gear for any hunting adventure.
If you’re in the market for a reliable hunting blind, give it a try.
