  1. This is a good snake grabber when it is assembled and the net on a pole is a great addition. Unfortunately, it is really a pain to set up and break down.

    The Pros:
    1. It is very sturdy and mostly well made
    2. Nice and long to keep you away from any venomous snakes
    3. The gripper is easy to work

    The Cons:
    1. The grip lock is a good idea but very poorly executed. It will not lock on the tightest setting at all and on the looser settings it just falls back open very easily. The only setting it worked on with out just popping back open was the second to the tightest and that one you need 2 hands to set it not just your thumb as the manufacturer claims.
    2. It is not at all easy to set up and take down. The instructions are extremely minimal and do not mention a critical step to make the wire from the grip to the claw function properly.
    3. Once it was set up properly, I had to watch another reviewer to find out how, it works nicely. However, it will not collapse back all the way to the fully folded position. Either the gripper end or the claw end will not fold over when disassembled. It is very easy to pinch fingers when setting it up or breaking it down.
    4. The length of the grabber and the net pole are good for safety, but also pretty heavy. It might take two people to use with one working the grabber and the other the net to use it safely for the person and the snake.

Final evaluation: It is a great snake grabber of good quality when it is assembled. When it comes to being able to collapse it and carry it that way, it loses lots of stars for being clunky, and ultimately not working as claimed. It also loses stars for the grip lock not working at all and looking like a cheap afterthought. Not really worth the price in my opinion.

  2. If you live in snake country and need to occasionally catch and remove one, you need something like this. Unlike a snake hook, this actually grabs the snake tightly enough that it can’t wriggle free – there’s even a locking clasp to keep the snake pinned while you’re moving it around. Of course, pinching the snake too tightly could hurt or kill it, so there’s a net to drop the snake into for transport.

The grabber folds up, so you could take it with you on a hike. The net folds too, but not nearly so much, so you wouldn’t likely be carting it along “just in case.”

All these items are lightweight and not the heaviest build, so I wouldn’t recommend them for professional use or anything big like a boa constrictor. For occasional capture of snakes a foot or two long, though, these should work fine. If your snakes are venomous, be sure to use proper protective gear like gloves, boots, jeans, safety goggles, and so on – but assuming you aren’t totally clumsy, you won’t personally be getting closer to the business end of the snake than 6 feet by using this tool, so you should be reasonably safe.

Given the lightweight build quality, I tend to think this set is a bit overpriced. It’s a whole lot cheaper than an emergency room visit though.

  3. Reviewing Kalkal 69¡± Snake Grabber Tool, We get a lot of snakes on our property. They cause no issues for us when they are outside. Occasionally, one will be where we are doing yardwork, or one will find its way into the garage. We have a snake hook for those times, but it can be tricky to use and it¡¯s too risky when trying to move rattlesnakes (that¡¯s the only venomous type of snake we have). It can also be tricky when moving bull-snakes with it. The bull-snakes around here grow large and are aggressive. They are not venomous, but it¡¯s still no fun if you get bit by one and you risk injuring the snake with your uncontrollable reaction to getting bit so when I saw this, I knew it would be a better solution.

It has a good extension reach to it and it¡¯s easy to hold and manipulate the grabber on the end. I¡¯ve tested it on my hand, and it did not hurt, but it could scratch up a snake, so I used electrical tape to tape some fabric about both sides of the grabber. The net is a great size and has a tie around it to close the net once you¡¯ve got something inside. That will be especially handy for us because we¡¯ve had snakes get off our snake hook before while we were walking them back to the creek. It¡¯s a good, lightweight, snake too. Rating 4 stars (because of the grabber not having padding).

  4. Totally awesome buy, you need this in those snake states
    – very cute impact design
    – retractable stick (6-7ft) with a big 4ft net
    – lock mechanism so that you don’t accidently let go of the snake

It was sort of tricky to assemble. Start with the handle end, and screw each end to each other well. Last piece will not screw in until you release thr orange clamp and retract 7″ of the pipe from the inside. Once you retract it, it will pull the line and make it easy to get the last piece tight. Then just adjust the line and lick it in place.

Stick for the net has 2 retractable pieces that make it very long.

Excellent product with nice compact design.
