This is a well made and constructed harness. It feels safe while hanging on it which is a good feeling. A sturdy and safe harness is important for keeping your thoughts on the hunt. Works great!
The fact that it’s dual purpose is awesome. If I wana sit my stand it’s a harness, if I Wana saddle hunt it’s a saddle. I’m a very mobile hunter, I prefer a combination of sitting a stand, then getting down and still hunting my way through an area then being able to jump in a random tree using a saddle. this is the best of all worlds. The one thing I will say I don’t like is the bridge rope it comes with. Non adjustable and it’s pretty short, and its hunter orange. I replaced the bridge with an adjustable bridge and that fixed that issue. It’s not the most comfortable saddle I have but it’s not the worst either. There is enough space to have dump pouches and a bow / accessories strap all connected to it. Pretty sure after a few trips out I’ll have it set to where I can actually get rid of the back pack and just carry a camelbak rather than a whole day pack.
I picked up the Kalkal Tree Stand Harness to use as a safety harness in tree stands. It wasn’t until I received the product did I realize it has a built-in tree saddle. That was a pleasant surprise. The harness fits well and has been comfortable in my testing (I haven’t gotten to hunt with it yet). Figuring out all the straps took a minute and it wasn’t until I went over the instructions a few times did I realize that it also has a built-in backrest for use with the saddle. That was a second pleasant surprise. There are two issues worth noting, but I didn’t deduct a star for either.1. I wish the bridge was detachable to make the setup easier to put on and take off without having to step through the fixed bridge while wearing boots. I plan on removing the bridge one day and making my own detachable version.2. The snap link that is intended to attach the backrest to the tree strap seems to be way too flimsy for use in a tree. I will not be using it for anything more heavy duty than a keychain. Instead, I’ll be replacing the stock part with a real weight bearing carabiner or snap link.Minor issues aside, this is a really nice harness with lots of bang for your buck. 5 stars.
The listing says it’s “ANSI qualified”…but their paperwork shown in the listing shows HUAK Testing…which is NOT American National Standards Institute!?Overall this is very good quality, in fact, my first impression I was pleasantly surprised by how good of quality it is! I do have concern over some of the seams where it really needs to be reinforced with heavy-duty stitching seem to be lacking. I only weigh 130, so it’s not stressing over me, but it might be a different story when it comes to my 200 lbs dad. We will update this review if anything needs sharing.
I have tried a few hunting saddles this year, and this one might be my very favorite. I am not sure why no one else is making these saddles with the harness built in: it’s really cool that I can go out and saddle hunt like I normally would, but can also hook up to a tether in a regular stand as well if I decide to climb up into one… something I often do when I get bored where I am sitting (we have stands all over the woods).Additionally, the extra support you get from having a built-in harness makes this quite a bit more comfortable than the normal saddles. All materials seem very well made, and there is a lot of good stuff included with this.Unfortunately I had to knock it down a star and I hate to do it for a product that I like as much as I do, but the stitching for the tether strap (the one that wraps around the tree once you are up there) started to rip the first time I got this up in the tree… It didn’t come apart all the way, but after hanging in it with my weight on it for 15 minutes at the most this was concerning. I am a small dude at only 150 lbs. I am sure this is probably not usual, but I have to bring it up. I will be using something else and it will be fine, but as is ALWAYS going to be the case with anything you are trusting with your life to hold you 20 feet up off the ground, you should be checking for things like that every time you decide to go up in a tree. All in all, the defective strap aside, this is a fantastic saddle that is certainly worth your time and money. This will be my main saddle for sure moving forward.
